After a fall or collision: moving the damaged bike safely
People first, then the bike. How to protect it, and how we recover it.
What to do right now
- 1
Check people first. Call emergency services for any injury, however small it seems.
- 2
Switch off the engine and the fuel tap. Turn the tap off if the bike has one. Keep flames and cigarettes away.
- 3
Look for a fuel leak. A wet patch under the tank or a strong smell of petrol means the bike must not be started and must be moved carefully.
- 4
Move the bike out of traffic only if it is safe. If the wheel is bent or the bike is leaking, leave it where it is and stand clear.
- 5
Take photos before anything moves. The position, the damage and the surroundings, for insurance and for any police report.
- 6
Note the other vehicle's number. If there was a collision, also take the names and numbers of any witnesses.
How we help

After a fall or a minor collision, the first question is whether anyone is hurt. If anyone is, call emergency services before you call us. The bike can wait.
Once everyone is safe, the next job is moving a damaged bike without making the damage worse. A bent fork, a seized wheel or a leaking tank all change how it should be lifted and secured.
We recover bikes from the roadside after a fall or a collision and take them to your garage, a service centre or your home. Tell us about the damage: bent forks, a locked wheel or a leaking tank. A bike with a seized wheel cannot be rolled, so we bring extra hands and secure it so it cannot move.
Straps go on solid points, and we avoid the damaged parts so the damage does not get worse. For a superbike or a bike with loose fairings, we pad the contact points and avoid strapping across broken plastics.
If your insurer wants the bike taken to a particular workshop, give us the name and the address. We deliver it there, and you can keep the photos for the claim.
A damaged motorcycle travels on our bike towing service truck, a damaged scooter or EV with scooty and EV towing, and a damaged car by flatbed car towing. Crash damage is a workshop job, so roadside assistance is not the right choice after an accident.
What to tell us when you call
- Whether anyone needs medical help (call emergency services first)
- What is damaged: forks, wheels, tank or handlebar
- Whether the wheels turn, and whether there is a fuel leak
- Where the bike is, and the nearest landmark
- The workshop or service centre you want it taken to
What not to do
- Do not ride a bike with bent forks or a damaged wheel. Steering can fail without warning.
- Do not start a bike that is leaking fuel. A spark near spilled petrol is a fire risk.
- Do not agree on repair costs at the roadside. Take photos and check for injuries first, and decide afterwards.
Frequently asked questions
Will you move a bike the police want to inspect?
If the police have asked you to leave the vehicle where it is, wait for their instructions. Once they allow it to be moved, call us.
Can you take the bike to the workshop my insurer names?
Yes. Give us the workshop name and address on the call, and we will deliver it there.
My front wheel will not turn. Can you still load it?
Yes. A seized wheel means we send extra hands and secure the bike so it cannot roll. It is a normal job for us.
Do you recover superbikes after a fall?
Yes. Tell us the make, the damage and any loose fairings. We pad the contact points and avoid straps across broken plastics.
