Electric scooters add a battery pack that must be treated with care. If your EV has been in water or an accident, or if the battery has swelled, smells odd or is hot, tell us on the call. We will avoid any handling that could stress the pack and will advise you not to charge it until it has been inspected.

- Many automatic scooters should not be pulled for long on the rear wheel. We load them on a platform, with straps on the frame rather than the body panels, and the steering lock on if you can set it.
- Electric scooters
- We load the scooter with the drive wheel supported, so the motor is not turned without power. We also ask about battery condition, any warning lights and whether the scooter was recently submerged.
- Body panels and mirrors
- We pad contact points and avoid strapping across plastic fairings, footboards and mirrors, which are easy to crack and expensive to replace.

For electric scooter owners
An empty battery is the most common reason an EV scooter needs help. If this has happened to you, the scooter is usually safe to move, and we can take it to a charging point, a service centre or home. A fully drained battery is not an emergency, but a damaged one can be.
If the scooter has been in floodwater, do not try to start it or plug it in. Water and a charging port are a bad mix. Keep it dry, leave it switched off and let a qualified technician check it first. We will move it carefully to wherever you choose.
Before the truck arrives
- 1Switch the scooter off, take out the key and engage the steering lock if you can.
- 2Fold in the mirrors if they fold, and remove any loose bags or helmets from the storage space.
- 3Tell us about any warning lights, unusual smells or visible damage to the battery area.
- 4Do not attempt to charge an EV that has been in water or shows signs of damage.
- 5Park the scooter on firm, level ground away from the traffic if you can.

Frequently asked questions
Can you tow an Ather or Ola scooter with a flat battery?
Yes. A flat battery is common and the scooter itself is usually fine. We load it with the drive wheel supported so the motor does not spin without power, then take it to a charger, a service centre or your home.
Is it harmful to tow a petrol scooter on its rear wheel?
For many automatic scooters, pulling them for a distance on the rear wheel is not recommended, so we load them on a platform instead. That removes the doubt and protects the transmission.
My electric scooter got wet in the rain. Should I keep trying to start it?
No. Switch it off, keep it dry and do not charge it. Let a qualified technician check it first. We can take it carefully to a service centre or your home.
Can you tow a scooter that has fallen and has a bent handlebar?
